The brief was to construct a new home on their beloved family property, rich with generational memories.
The clients wanted to recreate the familial warmth and tradition experienced during past holidays, envisioning the new house as a central hub for family gatherings and continued connections to this cherished place. Their brief emphasized a design that seamlessly integrates with the landscape while offering ample space and comfort for visiting family members. With a deep emotional tie to the site, the couple hopes to preserve and pass on the legacy of their family home for generations to come.
Designing the house on a mildly sloping site posed challenges in balancing accessibility and ground connection, while maintaining single-level living without steps. Careful consideration was required to ensure seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, while minimising the need for elevation changes. Strategic placement of the living areas and thoughtful landscaping helped to create a sense of connection with the ground, while maximizing views and natural light. Ultimately, the design achieved a harmonious balance between accessibility, functionality, and aesthetic appeal, ensuring that the home seamlessly integrates with its surroundings while providing a comfortable living experience.
